Annarupa Sashti

Annarupa Shasti is observed on the Shukla Paksha Sashti Tithi in Poush month in calendars followed in eastern parts of India. Annarupa Sashti 2025 date is December 26. The day is of great significance in certain parts of Bengal. The rituals are observed on the sixth day during the waxing phase or light phase of moon in Paush month (December – January).

The rituals on the day are dedicated to Annarupa, the deity associated with food. This particular term used to describe the goddess associated with food is mentioned in the Rig Veda.

The rituals on the day are for prosperity and good harvest.
