Panchami Vrata

Panchami Vrata is observed on the fifth day mainly during the waxing phase of moon (Shukla Paksha) in a traditional lunar calendar. Panchami Vrata is mainly dedicated to Nagas and the most popular is the Nag Panchami Vrat.

Panchami Vrata is mainly observed in Shravan, Bhadra, Ashwina and Kartik month. The most important Panchami is the one during the waxing phase of moon in Shravan month and this is popularly observed as Nag Panchami.

It must be noted that both the Panchamis (during waxing and waning phase of moon) is important in Bengal and are dedicated to Nagas.

It is believed that observing Panchami Vrata will be blessed with long life, fame, prosperity and intellect.
