How to do Rahu Worship and Fasting – Rahu Vrat and the Beej Mantra

Rahu is an important deity in Hindu astrology but he does not rule over any zodiac sign. The movement and position of Rahu on the horoscope is considered very important for those people who believe in Astrology. Rahu is associated with material needs and desires and is believed to help in earning name and fame. He is also believed to have endowed with manipulative powers and thus influencing a person into the path of greed, jealousy, lust and evil.

It is believed that those people having trouble with Rahu can get rid of it by worshipping Lord Shiva. The chanting of Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra is believed to help in removing all sorts of sorrows and problems.

Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra is
Om Trayambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Purshitvardanam
Uruvarukamiva Bandanat Mritiyormukshiya Mamaritat

Goddess Durga is believed to rule over Rahu and therefore worshipping Her is also considered helpful.
Black is the color of Rahu and therefore devotees wear black colored dress to worship Him. Another color preferred is hessonite – a color from yellow to brown.

The items that are donated during Rahu worship include urad dal, til, iron, blue and black clothes, copper, blanket etc.

The Beej Mantra is – Om Bhram Bhreem Bhrom Saha Rahve Namaha

There is no special day dedicated to Rahu in a week. Therefore devotees themselves choose an appropriate day to worship Rahu.
