Koya Tribes – The Tribal Face Readers of India

The Koya tribals in Gandhasiri Village in Khammam district of Andhra Pradesh are famous face readers. For the Koya tribals face reading is an ancient tradition handed down through generations. The process of face reading is simple – the tribals focus on the customer’s face and talks about the customer’s past, present and future.

Tribal face reading might sound irrational and unscientific to many but these tribals have clients from South Asia and Australia. Some tribals are known to tour these countries. The tribals consider it as a science and visit various cities and towns in India.

The tribals worship the Vana Durga and special pujas are done on Amavasi and Poornima.
