Bhavuka Amavasya – Bhavuk Amavas

Bhavuka Amavasya is observed on the no moon day or Amavasya day in the Jyeshta month as per traditional Hindu calendar followed in North India. Bhavuka Amavasya 2024 date is June 6. The corresponding Amavasya in western and southern parts of India is the Vaishakh Amavasya.

The day is chosen for performing Shradh, Pind Daan and Tarpan.

Vat Savitri Amavasya Vrat, Bargadahi Amavasya and Shani Jayanti are observed on the day annually.

Bhavuka Amavasya is dedicated to Chandra or moon good in Hinduism. At night, people offer water and white color sweets to Chandra.

The main belief is that offering pujas to Chandra on the day will help in solving financial and family related problems.
