When to Perform Goddess Kalaratri Devi Puja?
The ideal day to perform the puja:
- Seventh day of Navratri – Saptami Tithi
- Saptami Tithi – the seventh day after Amavasya (no moon day) in a Hindu lunar month.
- The puja can also be performed on Amavasya or no moon day in a lunar month.
She has control over Shani Navgraha. Worship of her will help in overcoming Shani Navgraha related problems in horoscope.

Simple Goddess Kalaratri Puja Vidhi
- The puja should be performed early morning during sunrise.
- The murti (picture, photo or painting) of Goddess Kalaratri should be placed on the west side of the house on a blue color cloth.
- The puja should be performed facing west.
- The person performing puja should wear blue color clothes.
- Take a kalash fill it with water and put beetroot juice or natural blue and blue color flowers. Close the kalash with a coconut and mango tree leaves. Keep this near the picture or sculpture or painting of Kalaratri.
- Steel lamp should be lit using sesame oil (til ka tel). One wick is preferred.
- Dhoop or agarbatti should be of Lohbaan.
- Blue color flowers should be offered.
- Tilak should be of kajal.
- Offer uncooked rice.
- Offer 11 one rupee coins.
- Offer 12 pepper corns.
- Offer 10 cloves.
- Prepare food using black til and jaggery. The best food offered is til wadi, til ladoo or rewari. This should be consumed after puja by family members and relatives.
- The mantra ॐ कालरात्र्यै देव्यै: नमः should be chanted 108 times. The count should be kept on a rudraksha mala or dark pearl mala.
- The water in the kalash should be deposited under a peepal tree.
Special Pujas
To overcome Navgraha peeda in janam kundli or planetary position problems in horoscope, offer 12 peppercorns to Kalaratri. Take it and put in water and pour it under a neem tree.
To solve financial problems, keep coins offered to Goddess Kalaratri in purse or locker. Drape the coins in a blue color cloth.
For improvement of business, success in factory and shop, keep the clove offered to Kalaratri in a blue color cloth near the main door.
