Mahamandaleshwar Swami Kashikananda Giri Maharaj Attains Samadhi

Mahamandaleshwar Swami Kashikananda Giri Maharaj attained samadhi in Haridwar on October 24, 2014. The mahasamadhi was held on the banks of Holy Ganga on Saturday, October 25. Mahamandaleshwar Swami Kashikananda Giri Maharaj was the undisputable authority Advaitha philosophy in the modern era.

Swamiji's title of Dwadashadarshaacharya Maha Mandaleswar denotes his supreme advisory position over the 12 systems or schools of philosophy and all the lineages of sanyasi parampara and the mutts (monasteries) under them. And Swamiji was the only person holding such a position today - the Acharya to all the acharyas in India. (from an article in the school of Bhagavad Gita)

The 91-year old monk was the head of two monasteries, one in Haridwar and the other in Mumbai.
