Jyeshta Ashtami Vrat in Jammu and Kashmir



Jyeshta Ashtami is the eighth day during the waxing phase of moon (Shukla Paksha) in the month of Jyeshta (June – July) and is considered highly auspicious by Hindu communities in Jammu and Kashmir. Jyeshta Ashtami Vrat 2014 date is June 6. The famous Khir Bhavani Mela is held on the day.

The day is highly auspicious in temples and sacred spots associated with Goddess Shakti. Apart from the Khir Bhavani Mela, the day is also auspicious to Shukla Devi.

Triloknath Ashtami is also held on the day.

Apart from visiting the sacred spots and making offering and prayers, some devotees also observe partial fast on the day.
