Parashurama Avatar - the Sixth Incarnation of Vishnu

Parashurama is the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. In this Avatar, Parashuram restored justice by wiping out the ruling class which had become corrupt. Parashurama was present on earth when Lord Vishnu incarnated as Lord Ram and Lord Krishna. The origin of many of the popular temples in India, especially in South India, is traced to Parashuram.

Parashu means axe and this incarnation of Vishnu is named after his favorite weapon. He was born as the son of Rishi Jamadagni.

Kamadhenu, the divine cow that could confer all desires, was stolen by from Sage Jamadagni’s ashram by Sahastrabahu Arjuna (a king named thousand armed Arjuna). This finally resulted in the death of Rishi Jamadagni.

To avenge this Parasurama wiped out generations of corrupt warriors from the planet to restore justice. He distributed the wealth amassed by the rulers to the people. Thus we get the earliest information of social equality achieved through armed revolution.

Symbolically, this shows that when the ruling or political class starts to steal from its subjects adharma breeds – corruption and nepotism grows. To restore Dharma, Lord Vishnu incarnates.

In Ramayana, Parashuram appears when Lord Ram breaks Lord Shiva’s bow to win the hands of Mata Sita.

In the Mahabharat, Bhishma, Drona and Karna learn warfare from Parashurama. Thus he is Guru to the great warriors in Mahabharat.

Parashuram is believed to have consecrated numerous temples in India. This includes temples of Vishnu, Shiva and Shakti.

Mahabharat and Ramayana happened in two different yugas, then how come Parashurama was there in both the yugas.

Many personalities in religion had socialist and communist tendencies. Prophet Jesus and the Apostles, Prophet Mohammed and the Companions all exhibited this in their teachings philosophies and behaviour. Buddha, Kong Fu Zi, Lao Tzu, Mo Tzu, Gurus of Sikh tradition, Baha'i manifestations, sages and scholars all expressed socialist ideals.

Religious philosophy itself is socialist. The idea that everyone has a soul is common amongst all classes, ethnic groups, sects, and persuasions. The idea that there is a God in charge of everything is common for all walks of life. The idea that one must be respectful and loving to one another is common amongst all folk.

Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels expressed these theories in an organised secular social and economic way.

Commune like systems were set up in the early Christian and Mohammedan periods.

Socialism as a subject and philosophy has its own personalities and deities. These include Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Vladimir Lenin, Leon Trotsky, Joseph Stalin, Mao Ze Dong, Ho Chi Minh etc.

Parashuram was in both Yugas. That is a quality and beauty of religion. Parashuram may have appeared in other forms later on to carry out similar wholesale reforms.

Parashuram is sakthi avesa avatar. This is the difference between the rest of the 10 major avatars. Parashuram is not an ordinary mortal like you. so he lives in multiple yugas.

Any atman lives forever. He (the atman - soul) can neither be burnt, nor caught neither crushed it lives on forever.

you and me live forever. that is why it is called anadhi kaalam. anaadhi = no beginning
kaalam = time

he the atman can neither be caught nor be burnt or destroyed. remember newton's law. energy can neither be created nor destroyed.

lord Parashuram being the only sakthi avesha avatar among the 10 major avatars. He being God empowered atman lives in multiple yugas for a purpose unlike you and other ordinary mortals

sorry, but I can not understand....
I try to understand many hinduism questions that is hard to visualize.... Some I can do, but others as this question about Parashurama being a Vishnu avatar and still exist when Rama and Krishnas (later Vishnu's avatars)came to earth.

the question: How can Vishnu come on Earth being Parashurama and Rama at the same time???

I never heard about such phenomena in any religion or mithology

I would like to respond to Vandermon.
An avataar is an aspect of the main God/ the supreme energy/ Universe . It doesn't mean Vishnu puts a stop to his activities in Vaikuntha and is solely on this incarnation as shown in films. God multiplies and a part of God comes down in human form. Once in human form God appears to be in MAYA and it takes the next avataar to make him realise that his time is over, the purpose of the avataar has been fulfilled. Parashurama is a Chiranjeevi and is believed to be still present in the Parashurama Kshethra, so is Lord Hanuman who is going to be the next Brahma for the next cycle of yugas. And Balarama and Krishna are considered Vishnu avataars by vaishnava texts who were incarnated at the same time as brothers. You can read more on 'Soul mates' to understand this clearly. Times is a limitation for humans, the fourth dimension. But for the spirit world this dimension doesnt exist. They are there at all times, at all places. Read Dr. Brian Weiss who explains this well.

Bharathi
