Aghor Chaturdashi – Dedicated to Avadhuta Baba Kinaram

Aghor Chaturdashi is an observance associated with the Aghori Sect. In 2024, the date of Aghor Chaturdashi is September 1. It is a sect with followers in Nepal and in the Indian states of Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Aghori Acharya Maharaj Kinaram one of the most prominent Gurus of this community was born on Aghor Chaturdashi day. Baba Kinaram is the founding father of the ancient Aghor Seat of Varanasi.

Aghori Acharya Maharaj Kinaram was born on the 14th day of the Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapad month as per traditional Hindu calendar followed in North India. His divine birth is believed to have happened in the year 1658 A.D

Viveksar, credited to Baba Kinaram, is said to be the most authentic treatise on the principles of Aghor.

An Aghor is an Avadhuta or Abhayadhar. One who has realized the immortality of the soul (Avinashi) and is free from all worldly bonds and is constantly immersed in the thought of Tatvamasi is called an Avadhut.
