Shiva, the self of all, has already been attained. These spiritual techniques exist not to make us attain the Self but to remove our forgetfulness, our errors, and our ignorance of that Self. Everyone has already attained the Self, but is unaware of it.

As long as a man is bound by a particular sect, there is a possibility of feeling hostile toward other sects, but for one who has gone beyond all sects, such feelings do not arise in his mind. A sect is like a fence. When a plant is small, it requires a fence for its protection, but after it has become a full-grown tree, a fence is no longer necessary.

As a mantra is repeated it first purifies the outer body and then the subtle body.

Bigotry cannot please God, because He is never captivated by any ritual or any particular method of sadhana. It is only out of compassion that He reveals Himself to devotees when He is pleased by their selfless love.

The world is nothing but a school of love, our relationships with our husband or wife, with our children and parents, with our friends and relatives are the university in which we are meant to learn what love and devotion truly are.

Meditation is not some strange technique that we have to learn with great effort and difficulty... Whatever we accomplish in this world we accomplish through the power of concentration, which is nothing but meditation...Above all, meditation stills the wandering mind and establishes us forever in a state of peace.

Happiness is within us, and it is ours, but we are always superimposing our own inner joy onto something outside and thinking it comes from there.
