Chandra Grahan 2018 in India – Lunar Eclipse dates in 2018 in India – Chandra Grahanam

Chandra Grahan 2018 dates based on Hindu calendar – India Standard Time. There are two lunar eclipses – Chandra Grahan – in 2018. The Chandra Grahan on January 31, 2018, and July 27, 2018 (ends early morning hours on July 28) are visible in India. Detail dates of all Chandra Grahanam in 2018 are given below:

Chandra Grahan on January 31, 2018 - Total Lunar Eclipse 

  • It is visible during moonrise.
  • Time in India is from 5:18 PM to 8:41 PM.
  • As it is during evening hours, the Grahan is followed in India by panchangs and temples.
  • Hindu temples will remain closed as per tradition.
  • It is a Total Lunar Eclipse – Purna Chandra Grahan 
  • The earth shadow will completely cover the moon from 6:22 PM to 7:38 PM
  • Mid Eclipse is at 7:00 PM
  • Those Hindus who perform fasting need to start it before 9 hours of the beginning of the eclipse.
  • You need to follow the rituals only if you are staying in the place where the grahan is taking place.

Chandra Grahan on July 27 - 28, 2018  - Total Lunar Eclipse (early hours on July 28)

  • It is fully visible in India from the night of July 27 to early morning hours of July 28.
  • Time in India is from 11:54 PM on July 27 to 3:49 AM on July 28, 2018.
  • It is a Total Lunar Eclipse – Purna Chandra Grahan
  • The earth shadow will completely cover the moon from 1:00 AM to 2:43 AM
  • Mid Eclipse is at 1:52 AM
  • This Grahan is followed in India and all temples will remain closed as per tradition.
  • Those Hindus who perform fasting need to start it before 9 hours of the beginning of the eclipse.
  • All rituals including holy dip, charity should be completed before the Grahan ends.
