Yamaganda in Hindu Astrology

Yamaganda is a particular time in a day considered not suitable for starting a new work. This calculation is based on Hindu Muhurtasashtra or electional astrology. A day (sunrise to sunset) is divided into 8 equal portions called ardha yama, which are 1:30 hours. These periods are either good or bad.

The time of Yamaganda depends on rise in a particular area. The general Yamaganda period is as follows:

12:00 PM to 1:30 PM on Sunday
10:30 AM to 12:00 PM on Monday
9:00 AM to 10:30 AM on Tuesday
7:30 AM to 9:00 AM on Wednesday
6:00 AM to 7:30 AM on Thursday
3:00 PM to 4:30 PM on Friday
1:30 PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday
