Choondickal Bhadrakali Temple Kaliyoottu Festival at Vellarada in Kerala - Kuthiyottam and Guruthi

Choondickal Bhadrakali Temple is located at Vellarada in Thiruvananthapuram District in Kerala. The shrine is located around 21 km from Neyyattinkara. Kaliyoottu festival is a unique ritual observed in Goddess Bhadrakali temples in Kerala. The festival is associated with Goddess Durga annihilating demon Darika. It is a traditional folk performance.

Caparisoned elephants, melam, fireworks and sheevali are part of the festival.

The temple is traditionally decorated with plantain, coconut leaves, flowers, leaves, traditional lamps and lights.
