Attingal Mudippura Devi Temple Festival

Karichayil Ambalathumvathukkal Mudippura Devi Temple is located at Attingal in Thiruvananthapuram District in Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Mother Goddess who is worshipped in the form of Bhagavathy or Devi. The annual festival or utsavam in the temple is observed in Malayalam Kumbham month. Attingal Mudippura Devi Temple Festival beginning date is March 4. The festival ends with arattu on March 11.

During the festival period, the temple is traditionally decorated with plantain, coconut leaves, flowers, leaves, traditional lamps and lights.

Melam, caparisoned elephants, fireworks are part of the festivities. Traditional performing arts, music and dance are staged during the period.

Various unique offerings are made at the shrine during the period. As it is a Bhagavathy Temple, the rituals observed here are distinctive.

The festival ends with Arattu. The utsava murti of the deity is taken out of the shrine for ritual bathing on the final day. Caparisoned elephants and melam are part of the ritual.
