Yogini Ekadasi

Yogini Ekadashi occurs during the waning phase of the moon in the Hindu month of Ashadha (June – July) as per traditional Hindu calendar followed in North India. In 2017, the date of Yogini Ekadashi is June 20. The importance of this Ekadasi was explained to Yudhisthira by Lord Krishna. Fasting on this Ekadashi helps in overcoming the remorse caused by sins committed and also helps in achieving ‘moksha.’

The significance of Yogini Ekadasi is mentioned in Brahma Vaivarta Purana. The Purana narrates the tale of a gardener named Hemamali who overcame a curse, which made him a leper, by observing a fast on Yogini Ekadasi. The gardener was instructed by Sage Markandeya about the Ekadashi.
A fast on this day is believed to help in washing away the sins committed and in leading a pious life.
All the usual rules associated with Ekadasi fasting are observed on the day. The fast begins with the sunrise on Ekadasi day and ends with sunrise on the next day.

When there is Angarak yog, that is when it is Chaturthi tithi on Tuesday, perform fast and do annadanam, or food donation. Offer prayers on the day in Ganesh temple and at a Hanuman temple.

For seven Tuesdays, throw small amount of rice into river. Feeding fishes on the day earns merit. Keep a red color cloth always with you. Like a red color handkerchief. This helps in pacifying Mangal dosh.

Watering plants daily is considered a best way to get rid of all problems related to Mangal in horscope.

Feeding poor children with milk, curd, rice and kheer on Tuesday is meritorious.

Karmanye Vadhikaraste Meaning of the Shloka from the Bhagavad Gita

Karmanye Vadhikaraste ma phaleshu kadachana Ma karma phala hetur bhur mate sangostvakarmani" (Bhagavad Gita Chapter II Verse 47)
"You have a right to action alone, never to its fruit. Your motivation should not be fruit of action nor should you be attached to inaction."
“You have the right to work and do good deeds, but never to the results obtained from that effort, ever. Your motive should never be looking towards the results of your actions, nor should you be attached to inaction.”
Sri Krishna’s advice here is a call to man not to waste his present moment in fruitless dreams and fears, but to bring his best – all the best in him – to the present and vitally live every moment, the promise being that the future shall take care of itself and shall provide the Karma Yogin with achievements divine and accomplishments supreme.
