Vijaya Ekadashi

Vijaya Ekadashi occurs during the waning phase of the moon (Krishna Paksha) in February – March. In 2018, the date of Vijaya Ekadashi is February 11. The greatness of this Ekadasi is mentioned in the Skanda Purana and observing of Vijaya Ekadasi helps in removing all the guilt associated with sins committed and also helps in attaining victory. Hinduism Beliefs

Hinduism Beliefs - There is only one Supreme Truth called by different names. That is present in all animate and inanimate. Everything rise and fall in this Supreme Truth. There is nothing outside That. This is the core Hindu belief. Hinduism thus extols equality of not just human beings but also of plants and animals. All are forms of That.

Hinduism gives the freedom to an individual to define the Supreme Truth. Thus, Hinduism has numerous gods and goddesses. A person might use any form to understand the Supreme Truth. New forms will be used in future. So there is no end to forms through which Supreme Truth can be understood.

Happiness is not outside but it is within. This is one of the most important teachings of Hinduism. All we have to remove the veil of ignorance and realize the Light within. That same light is present in all animate and inanimate.

Human beings suffer due to ignorance. Ignorance in the form of attachment, desire, anger, ego etc. When there is clear understandin…

Mayana Kollai – Worship of Goddess Angala Parameswari after Shivratri in Tamil Nadu

Mayana Kollai is dedicated to Goddess Angala Parameswari and it is observed the day after Mahashivratri in Tamil Nadu. This unique ritual and festival after Shivratri is actually the raid of the dead or ransacking of cemeteries. Today the festival involves a procession from the temple of the Goddess to a nearby cemetery. The festival legend also explains why Goddess Angala Parameswari appeared on earth.
Legend has it that Lord Shiva ordered Goddess Angala Parameswari to destroy a demon who had made his home in a burial ground. The Goddess, accompanied by her guard Pavadairayan, entered the burial and feasted on the corpses till she identified the demon and killed him. Mayana Kollai is based on this legend.
In ancient times it is said that people used to actually chew on bones and flesh. Today, the procession is just symbolic.
Pavadairayan, the guard of the goddess, is offered prayers only on this day.

The very process of yoga is to realize who you really are – Sadhguru

Unless you think the path you are walking is the best, you cannot involve yourself a hundred percent.

Fundamentally, the very process of yoga is to realize who you really are.

Searching for truth is itself a big illusion because whatever we term the truth is always and everywhere. We don’t have to search for it; we don’t have to seek it; it always is.

To go beyond the modifications of the mind is the most fundamental, at the same time the highest achievement, because this releases a human being from what he is seeking, from what is within and what is outside, from everything. He becomes an ultimate possibility if he just still his mind.
