Rakhi is a very popular ritual in Hindu Religion and celebrates brother-sister relationship. Rakhi 2017 date is August 7. On this day, the sister ties ‘Rakhi’ on her brother and who pledge to protect her from any danger. Rakhi Festival, also known as Raksha Bandhan, is observed on the full moon day (Purnima) in Shravan month.
‘Raksha’ means protection, and ‘Bandhan’ here means to tie. On Raksha Bandhan, sisters tie Rakhi, a bracelet made of thread of different colors, on their brothers' wrist. When a girl or woman ties a Rakhi around the hand of a boy or man it means he will protect her from all dangers.
