Kollemcode Devi Temple Thookam 2024 Date – Bhadrakali Temple at Kollemcode in Kanyakumari District

Bhadrakali Temple at Kollemcode in Kanyakumari District in Tamil Nadu is a very popular Shakti shrine in the region. The annual Kollemcode thookam 2024 date is April 10. The temple attracts scores of devotees from Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali.


Mother Goddess is worshipped in the form of semi-circular form known as Mudi. The Mudi is decorated with snake hood. (Though Shree Bhadrakali Devi is believed to be appeared here as dual form of Shakti viz. Bhadra and Kali, the devotees gets the blessings from the unified form of Mother Durga. These Goddess' reside in semi-circular "Mudis" which are decorated with Snake Hood structures carved from jack tree wood.)

There are two temples nearby one at Kollemcode and another at Venkanji. Kollemcode Devi is the elder sister Bhadra and the goddess worshipped at Venkanji is Rudra, younger sister. The "Moola Kshethram"(Original Temple) "Shree Vattavila Bhadrakali Mudippura" is located nearby. 

The most auspicious day in a month here is the Bharani day. It is the birth star of Goddess Bhadrakali. The festivals are observed at the Venkanji temple including the Thookam.

The most important festival is held in Malayalam Meenam month (March – April). It is known as Kollemcode Thookam Festival. The seven-day festival concludes with the famous Thookam on the Meena Bharani day (March - April).

Every year more than 1200 thookkams are held here. Special poojas, colourful processions, special Ezhunnallathu, Kavadi and Kavadiyattam, Vandiyottam, and devotional music recitals are part of the festival. Concerts and dramas, religious and cultural conventions, traditional temple arts are part of the annual festival.

The subsidiary deities worshipped in the temple are Ganesha, Shiva and Nagaraja.

Pathamudayam (April 23) is observed with various pujas and rituals.
