Kollemcode Devi – Bhadrakali Temple at Kollemcode in Kannyakumari District

Bhadrakali Temple at Kollemcode in Kannyakumari District in Tamil Nadu is a very popular Shakti shrine in the region. The temple attracts scores of devotees from Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali.


Mother Goddess is worshipped in the form of semi-circular form known as Mudi. The Mudi is decorated with snake hood.

There are two temples nearby one at Kollemcode and another at Venkanji. Kollemcode Devi is the elder sister Bhadra and the goddess worshipped at Venkanji is Rudra, younger sister.

The most auspicious day in a month here is the Bharani day. It is the birth star of Goddess Bhadrakali.

The most important festival is held in Malayalam Meenam month (March – April). It is known as Kollemcode Thookkam Festival.

The subsidiary deities worshipped in the temple are Ganesha, Shiva and Nagaraja.
