Kanya Sankranti

Kanya Sankranti marks the beginning of the Sun’s transition from Simha to Kanya (Leo to Virgo). There are 12 Sankranthi in a Hindu Solar Calendar and Kanya Sankranti is the fifth in one cycle. It is an auspicious day for many communities in Odisha and South India. In 2024, the date of Kanya Sankranti is September 17. Time is at 11:08 AM on September 17. ‘San’ means plenty and good and ‘Kranti’ means radical change and Sankranthi means plenty of good change.
