Suchindram Temple Festival – Annual Festival at Thanumalayan Shiva Temple at Suchindram in Tamil Nadu

Suchindram Temple is located at Kannyakumari District in Tamil Nadu. The annual festival in the temple is observed in Margazhi month. Thanumalayan Shiva Temple festival 2017 date is from January 2 to January 11. The shrine is located around 11 km from Kannyakumari and around 7 km from Nagercoil.

The festival in 2017 begins on Avittam Nakshtram in Margazhi masam and the Malayalam date is Dhanu 18.

The annual festival in the temple is organized in such a way that it ends on the Thiruvathira or Ardra Nakshatram day in Margazhi Month.

Various unique offerings are made at the shrine during the period.

Traditional performing arts, music and dance are staged during the period.

Caparisoned elephants, melam, fireworks and sheevali are part of the festival.

The temple is traditionally decorated with plantain, coconut leaves, flowers, leaves, traditional lamps and lights.
