Govindeshwara Gufa is a sacred cave located below the Omkareshwar Temple on Mandhata Island near Indore in Madhya Pradesh. The cave is associated with Adi Shankaracharya.
It is believed that Adi Shankaracharya met his Guru Govinda Bhagavatpada in the cave during his parikrama of the Narmada.
The concept of Vedanata was narrated to Adi Shankara by Govinda Bhagavatpada in the cave.
