Ramtirth Yatra at Ajara in Kolhapur District of Maharashtra – Ram Teerth Festival

Ramtirth Yatra is annually observed in Magh month. It is undertaken to the sacred place at Ram Teerth at Ajara in Kolhapur District of Maharashtra. The town is located around 92 km south of Kolhapur and around 23 southwest of Gadhinglaj. Ramtirth Yatra 2017 date is February 25.

The main rituals are observed at the Shiva and Bhagavan Sri Ram Temple here. Legend has it that Bhagavan Sri Ram stayed here during his exile period in the Ramayana.

The Yatra attracts hundreds of devotees. People also flock to the fair and festival organized during the period.

Processions, pujas, various rituals, traditional music, dance and food are the part of the festivities.

Ramtirth Yatra is observed on Magh Krishna Paksha Chaturdasi Tithi or the fourteenth day during the waning phase of moon in Magh month as per traditional Hindu lunar calendar followed in Maharashtra.
