Thrikkadavoor Mahadevar Temple is located near Kollam in Kerala. This famous Shiva shrine is around 5 km from Kollam town. The annual festival or utsavam is noted for unique rituals and festivities and attracts scores of devotees. Thrikadavu Mahadevar Temple Festival 2016 date is February 9 to February 18. The festival ends with Arattu.
Various unique offerings are made at the shrine during the period.
The highlight of the festival is Kettu Kazhcha - Kuthira or huge horses made using wood, husk and paper mache.
Traditional performing arts, music and dance are staged during the period.
Caparisoned elephants, melam, fireworks and sheevali are part of the festival.
The temple is traditionally decorated with plantain, coconut leaves, flowers, leaves, traditional lamps and lights.
