Kuttanellur Pooram 2025 date – Kuttanellur Bhagavathy Temple Pooram Festival

Kuttanellur Pooram is the annual festival observed in Kuttanellur Bhagavathy Temple in Thrissur District in Kerala. Kuttanellur Bhagavathy Temple Pooram Purappadu is on February 8, 2025. Kuttanellur Pooram 2025 date is February 14. The famous pooram festival in the shrine is observed in Kumbham month. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi. The shrine is located around 7 km from Thrissur Town at Ollur. 


The main temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga and is believed to be one among the 108 Durga Temples in Kerala. The main sreekovil is round in shape. 

The upa devatas in the temple are Ayyappa, Naga, Bhadrakali, and Ganapathy.

There are two Durga murtis in the temple and are known as Nanadurgas. The two murtis of Mother Goddess Durga faces east.

The 7-day annual festival ends on Pooram Nakshatra day in Kumbha month with the famous Kuttanellur Pooram. The Pooram Purappadu is observed 7 days earlier. 

A ritual named Pooram Paatu is conducted on the next day after the Pooram festival and is believed through this offering the Goddess enters the Sreelakam. 

The highlight of the pooram festival is the pageantry of caparisoned elephants and the melam (percussion ensemble).

The Panchari Melam in the temple is the longest and is noted for a very detailed presentation of Panchari Melam. 

During festival days various performances of art forms and musical renditions are held on the temple premises. 

The Prathishta Dinam at the temple is observed on the Punartham Nakshatra in Mithuna month.
