Ghata Sthapana – Kalasha or Earthen Pot Worship during Durga Puja

In traditional Durga Puja , Goddess Durga is worshipped in the form of nine plants (Navapatrika) which is wrapped in a red sari. This is placed in an earthen pot called ‘Purna Ghata.’ This ritual is known as Kalasa Sthapana or Ghata Sthapana. This is also believed to be the oldest ritual associated with Goddess Durga. Pandava Thoothar Perumal Temple, also known as Thirupadagam, is a unique shrine dedicated to Bhagavan Sri Krishna in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. Narahari Parvatha Sadashiva Temple is located atop Narahari Hill in Dakshina Kannada District, Karnataka. Narahari Shiva Temple is about 28 km from Mangalore and is located near Melkar on Bangalore – Mangalore Highway. Kuravi Veerabhadra Swamy Temple is dedicated to Veerabhadra, also known as Veerabhadra Swami, who is one of the Shiva Ganas.
