Rudra Prayag

Rudra Prayag is one among the five confluences along the Alakananda River in Uttarakhand. It is one of Pancha Prayag. At Rudra Prayag, Mandakini River joins the Alakananda River. The place is associated with Shiva and Sage Narada. The confluence of Mandakini and Alakananda River is considered a holy spot in Hinduism. Legend has it that Sage Narada did intense penance to appease Shiva here. Shiva appeared before him and taught him music here.

Vishnu Prayag

Vishnu Prayag is one among the five confluences along the Alakananda River in Uttarakhand. It is one of Pancha Prayag. At Vishnu Prayag, Dhauliganga joins the Alakananda River. Legend has it that Sage Narada performed intense austerities here to appease Lord Vishnu. Bhagavan Srihari Vishnu appeared before Sage Narada here. Hence, the name Vishnu Prayag. Sage Narada was an ardent devotee of and he roamed the three worlds chanting Narayan... Narayan.

Purattasi Sani – Saturday in Tamil Month Purattasi

Saturdays in the Tamil month of Puratasi (September – October) is considered highly auspicious and special prayers are offered to Lord Balaji, Navagrahas and Lord Shani or Sani Bhagvan. The popular belief is that Lord Venkateswara made his divine presence on the earth in this month and returned to Vaikunta also in the month. There is also a legend that Shani Dev loses his powers in Puratasi month and therefore cannot create any trouble.  Sage Narada, or Narad Muni, wanted to know how people can worship Lord Venkateshwara after his departure to Vaikunta. Lord advised Sage Narada that he will bless devotees who fast on Purattasi Saturdays and pray to Him. He will also relieve hardship caused by Lord Shani during Puratasi month.  Since Saturdays are free from the evil influences of Lord Shani Bhagvan, it is easy to please him on this day. Nilakanthi – A Form of Goddess Durga

Nilakanthi is one of the nine forms of Durga mentioned in Holy Scriptures associated with Goddess Shakti worship. This is a kind and peaceful form of Goddess Durga. Goddess Nilakanthi bestows wealth and happiness. The Goddess is depicted with four arms, in which she holds trident, shield, drinking bowl and the fourth hand is in bon giving posture. Bahirinath Idol Is Taken Out Of Sea - Worshipped And Returned At Diwalegaon During Diwali

The murti or idol of Bahirinath is worshipped during Diwali by the Koli community at Diwalegaon in CBD near Navi Mumbai. But the murti is kept undersea and is taken out only on Naraka Chaturdashi a day before Diwali. Pujas are performed on Diwali and the next day after worship the murti is returned to sea. Times of India reports For the residents of Diwaligaon, the significance of the festival of lights has always been different from the rest of the country. According to the lore, 150 years ago, the head of the Tandel family had a dream where the deity instructed him to lift his idol from the sea bed, worship and then immerse him at the same place. The fishermen believe that abiding by this ritual brings them luck in the new season. After recovering the stone idol, the kolis perform its abhishek with milk, honey, ghee, curd and sugar in the sea itself.
