Vat Savitri Vrat Katha – Sabitri Brata Fasting Story

Impressed by Satyavan’s devotion towards his blind parents, Savitri decided to marry him. On enquiry, the King found out from Sage Narada that Satyavan was the son of a deposed king and that he was destined to die in a year.
King first refused to give permission for the marriage but Savitri was adamant. Finally, the King relented and the marriage was conducted and the couple left for the forest.

How Hanuman Got the Title Sankat Mochan?

Sankat Mochan means the liberator from distress and is a popular title given to Hanuman. Legend has it that Hanuman was the given the tile Sankat Mochan by Shani Bhagavan after Hanuman rescued him from Ravana’s prison.
Hanuman enters Lanka and starts searching for Mata Sita. Soon he hears cries from a dungeon. Hanuman finds Shani Bhagavan in the prison.
Ravana had captured Shani to ward off his deadly graze. Ravana who was also a great astrologer knew that Shani would cause his downfall.

Goddess Harsiddhi is a manifestation of Mother Goddess Shakti. She is identified with Goddess Annapurna. The most famous temple dedicated to Harsiddhi Mata is located in Ujjain.
The story associated with Goddess Harsiddhi begins with Shiva roaming around the universe with the body of Goddess Sati, who self immolated at the yajna of Daksha. To keep the balance of the universe and to bring back Shiva into worldly life, the body of Sati was cut into several pieces. Goddess Harsiddhi temple is located where the elbow of Goddess Sati fell.
Harsiddhi also means one who vanquishes all Adharma. Legend has it that once two demons named, Chand and Prachand, tried to attack Kailash. On Shiva’s command Goddess Chandi destroyed the two demons. A happy Shiva then called her Harsiddhi.

After Sati got married to Shiva, he organized a 'yajna', a great sacrifice, and invited all the deities, heavenly creations and dignitaries, except Sati and Shiva.
Sati wanted to find out why her husband was not invited to the yajna. Shiva warned Sati that the sole aim of the yajna was to insult him and she should not go there as she will be insulted.In spite of Shiva’s warning Sati went to enquire about it with her father, and as predicated by Shiva she was insulted by Daksha.
