Story of Saubhagyeshwar Mahadev

The story associated with Saubhagyeshwar Mahadev is associated with Queen Madan Manjari. Legend has it that Madan Manjari was married to King Ashwavahan. But due to bad Karmas of earlier life Madan Manjari could not satisfy her husband. Whenever her husband touched her, he used to feel his body is burning.

After sometime, the king, who was fed up with the whole episode, ordered the queen to be left in the forest. Here the queen met a saint who asked her to offer prayers Saubhagyeshwar Mahadev in Ujjain. The saint had explained that she was not having a happy married life because during the marriage ceremony bad planets were powerful and they were directly looking at the ceremony.

The queen then performed prayer at Saubhagyeshwar Mahadev. The moment she offered prayers, the king remembered her and he went in search for her. He finally found her at Ujjain Saubhagyeshwar Mahadev Temple. They then returned to palace and led a happy life with children.
