Singaji Mela at Nimar – Sant Singaji Maharaj Fair at Piplia

Singaji Mela is observed in Ashwin month. It is fair in honor of Sant Singaji Maharaj, a great poet and saint who lived in the Nimar region of Madhya Pradesh. The fair is organized for 15 days at Piplia. Singaji Mela 2024 date is October 17.

Sant Singaji Maharaj lived during the 15th century and who wrote numerous bhajans. He practiced nirguna form of worship – god with no form.

A temple dedicated to Sant Singaji Maharaj is located at Piplia. Devotees from nearby villages and towns arrive on the occasion of the mela to offer puja.

During the annual mela, more than two and a half million devotees visits the holy resting place of Singaji Maharaj. Nimar’s culture and tradition is seen in this fair. Ghee, coconut, chironji are being offered on the Samadhi of Singaji. Devotees who had their wishes fulfilled offer Bhandara.

Sant Singhji is also known as Kabir of Nimar region. His footprints are worshiped at the place of birth and samadhi sthal. Even after hundreds of years people experience the presence of the saint in their lives and he performs various miracles. Akhand Jyoti  (continuously lighted lamp) is burning from centuries in many places in the region associated with the saint.

Singaji Mela at Nimar is organized on Ashwin Purnima Tithi or the full moon day in Ashwin month as per traditional Hindu lunar calendar followed in Madhya Pradesh.
