Krishna River Festival at Karad – Krishna Nadi Utsav in Maharashtra

Krishna River festival is annually held in Shravan. It is mainly observed at Karad in Maharashtra. Koyna River joins Krishna nadi at Karad. Krishna River festival 2024 date is August 28.

Karad lies at the confluence of Koyna River and the Krishna River. The rivers meet exactly head on at Karad. Their confluence is called ‘Preeti Sangam’, meaning confluence of love.

It is the fourth longest river in India. Also known as, Krishnaveni, it is nearly 1,300 kilometers long.

The festival is observed during the monsoon season.

Krishna River Festival is observed on Shravan Krishna Paksha Dasami tithi or 10th day during the waning phase of moon in Shravan month as per traditional Hindu lunar calendar followed in Maharashtra.
