Kavadi with Milk Pots to Muruga Temple – Paal Kavadi

Paal Kavadi is one among the different types of Kavadi taken to hill temples of Lord Muruga. Paal or Pal means milk. Kavadi is two baskets or vessels suspended from a bamboo pole, decorated with peacock feathers.

In Pal Kavadi the vessels containing milk will be tied one either end of the stick.

The stick is decorated artistically and vermilion and turmeric are applied on the vessels with milk. Smalls bells are also tied to the kavadi stick. It is also decorated with peacock feathers.

During Thaipusam and important festivals associated with Muruga, people carry Paal Kavadi.
