Govinda Prabhu Jayanti is observed in Bhadrapad month. It is
the birth anniversary of Govinda Prabhu. Govinda Prabhu is the founder of Jai
Krishni Panth or Mahanubhava Cult as per some scholars. Govinda Prabhu Jayanti 2024 date is September 16. He is one of the five manifestations as per Jai Krishni Panth.
The main teaching of Mahanubhava Cult is that the Krishna is
the only god. It is both a spiritual and social organization.
Govinda Prabhu spread the teachings of Sri Krishna and Sri
Dattatreya and he held non-violence, celibacy, asceticism and bhakti as the
most important duties.
Followers of the Mahanubhava cult organize various programs
on the day. Prayer meetings, satsangs and charitable activities are held on the
day.
Govinda Prabhu Jayanti is annually observed on Bhadrapad
Shukla Paksha Trayodashi Tithi or the thirteenth day during the waxing phase of
moon in Bhadrapad month.
