Bannari Amman Temple Kundam – Fire Walking Ritual at Bannari Amman Temple near Erode in Tamil Nadu

Bannari Amman Temple Kundam is the fire walking ritual held at the famous Bannari Amman Temple near Erode in Tamil Nadu. This most important annual festival is observed on the last Tuesday of Maasi month. In 2015, the festival was observed from the night of April 6 to April 7.

More than 250,000 devotees participate in the annual ritual of Kundam at Bannari Amman Temple. Most of the devotees are from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

The ritual begins with the chief priest walking through the fire pit, after which thousands of devotees in all age groups walk on the fire.

The ritual is performed for wish fulfillment, peace and prosperity in the family and as thanksgiving for wish fulfillment.
