Book – Kamandalu: The Seven Sacred Rivers of Hinduism

Book titled “Kamandalu: The Seven Sacred Rivers of Hinduism” is written by Shrikala Warrier, an anthropologist with a Ph.D from the University of London. The book presents stories relating to the seven sacred rivers, namely, Ganga, Yamuna, Sarasvati, Sindhu, Godavari, Narmada and Kaveri from the Vedas, Puranas and Hindu epics.


The book also explores the towns and cities along these rivers that were designated as tirthas, and the practices connected with river goddess worship.

The book contains 20 color illustrations and provides a comprehensive reference list, explanatory notes and a detailed glossary.
