Sri Prasanna Venkatachalapathi Temple is popularly known as the Gunaseelam Temple
or Perumal Temple
The temple management runs an institute exclusively
dedicated to mentally challenged people. Along with medical treatment, faith
also plays an important part in curing mentally challenged people.
People who have mental illness are given accommodation in
the temple for 48 days. Sacred water from the temple is sprinkled on the
mentally challenged people at noon and night for 48 days. Belief is that one
will get cured if they sincerely offer their prayers to the Sri Prasanna
Venkatachalapathi.
