Goddess Amirthavalli – About Amrithavalli Thayar Manifestation of Goddess Lakshmi

Goddess Amirthavalli Thayar is manifestation of Mother Goddess Lakshmi and in this manifestation she is the consort of Narasimha Murti at SholinghurTemple in Vellore District in Tamil Nadu. Legend has it that Goddess Lakshmi appeared from one of the ponds near SholinghurTemple. She emerged from the pond sitting on a thousand petal lotus flower.


She was given the name Amirthavalli as she was holding the a creeper of the Amrita plant.
She married Narasimha on a Friday and hence the day is associated with the Goddess.
It is widely believed that Goddess Amirthavalli blesses her devotees with prosperity, good, long life and happiness.

Yamuna Jayanti - Yamuna Chhath 2018

Yamuna Jayanti is dedicated to the YamunaRiver and it is also known as Yamuna Chhath and is observed mainly in Mathura. Yamuna Jayanti 2018 date is March 23. It is observed on the sixth day (chath) of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of moon) in Chaitra month (March – April). Special pujas are offered on the banks of the YamunaRiver on the day.

Yamuna Jayanti is birth anniversary of Goddess Yamuna. She is believed to have appeared on the earth on the day in the form of a river.

On the day people visit the Yamuna river bank and do puja and take a sip of water and chants – Yamuna Maiya Ki Jai.
