Ram Baraat – Marriage Procession of Lord Ram and Mata Sita from Ayodhya in India to Janakpur in Nepal

Ram Baraat, which attracts thousands of Hindu saints and devotees, is annually held from Ayodhya in India to Janakpur in Nepal. This is the Baraat or marriage procession of Bhagvan Sri Ram. He goes to Janakpur in Nepal the city of Mata Sita. It is annually observed during Margashirsh month as per traditional Hindu calendar followed in North India.

It is believed that the first Ram Baraat was organized around 125 years ago by Lala Kokamal, a cloth merchant.

In the marriage and procession, Bhagvan Sri Ram is represented by Shaligram Shila and Mata Sita is represented by Tulsi plant.
