Kartikeswar Puja is observed in Odisha from Kartik Purnima
for five days. Kartikeswar Puja 2024 date is from November 15 to November 19. Monday
in Kartik month in Odisha is highly auspicious and people consume food without
onion and garlic. The festival is also referred as Kartikeswar Yatra.
Special sarvajanik pandals are created during the period.
The murti of Kartikeswar is installed and worshipped for five days and is
immersed on the final day.
Kartikeswar is the son of Shiva and Goddess Parvati. He is
popularly known as Kartik, Muruga, Skanda, and Subrahmanya.
Legend has it that he appeared to annihilate demon
Surapadman, who had become invincible. He led the army of the Devas – celestial
beings. Kartikeswar is the handsome god and is widely worshipped in South India .
