Vishnu Vrat as the name indicates is dedicated to Bhagvan
Vishnu and is observed on the Shukla Paksha Dwadasi day for a year. The popular
belief is that the person observing the vrat will attain Vaikunta, the abode of
Vishnu. The devotee will also be blessed with peace and wealth.
The vrat can be started from the Shukla Paksha Dwadasi or
the 12th day during the waxing phase of moon in any month. Most
devotees usually start if from the Paush shukla paksha Dwadasi.
The devotees observe a partial fast on the day. He avoids
all non vegetarian food and does not eat any grains. Vishnu puja is performed
in the morning and evening by offering Tulsi leaves.
It is very important to donate food and clothes on all the
12 dwadashi in a year.
Vishnu Vrat is also observed for relief from sins committed.
