Worship of Sri Sudarshan Chakra at Puri Jagannath Temple - Chakraraj Sudarshan

Apart from the three murtis – Jagannath, Balabhadra and Shubhadra – Sri Sudarshan Chakra is also worshipped in the Puri Jagannath Temple. The four murtis together are known as Chaturdhha Murti. Chakraj Sudarshan worship is mentioned in Brahma Purana and Skanda Purana.

In the main sanctum sanctorum of the Puri Jagannath Temple, Sri Sudarshan is seated on the left side of the Jagannath murti.

Sudarshan Chakra represents the supreme luminescence of the Supreme Purusha.

It is the divine symbol of Bhagvan Vishnu – made popular on earth by Sri Krishna.

Sri Sudarshan goes in the front of Lord Jagannath in all His spiritual yatras.

In the Rath Yatra, the divine chakra is brought out first in a Pahandi and is then seated in Debadalana Chariot of goddess Subhadra ahead of all other murtis.

Apart from Rath Yatra, the Sudrashan chakra is brought out on Shravan Purnima, Radha Ashtami and Kumar Purnima.
