Shivaji Rajyabhishek Date – Shivaji Rajyabhishek or Coronation as Per Hindu Tithi

Shivaji Rajyabhishek is the coronation of the great Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The Shivaji Rajyabhishek Date is June 6, 1674. As per Hindu Tithi the coronation took place on the 13th day during the waxing phase of moon in Jyeshta month (Shukla Paksha Trayodasi Tithi as per Marathi Calendar). In 2014, the date is on June 13.


Shivaji Maharaj was crowned the king of Marathas on the day. The huge and lavish ceremony was held at Raigad. Water from seven sacred rivers – Yamuna, Indus, Ganga, Godavari, Krishna and Kaveri – was placed on a gold vessel above the head of Shivaji Maharaj.

Shivaji was given the title Shakakarta and Kshatriya Kulavantas and Chhatrapati.

Shivaji’s mother Jijabai died on June 18, 1674, soon after the coronation.

So as per astrologers another coronation was held on September 24, 1674.
