First Monday of Shravan Month (Somvar Vrat) is very
important day. Thousands of devotees observe fasting on the day. A special
offering is made on the Monday. The main offering is pouring water on the
Shivling.
Another important offering made on the first Monday of the
Shravan month is a handful of raw rice.
As per Padma Purana observing Shravan Somvar Vrat helps in
wish fulfillment.
As per Shiv Mahapuran observing the Monday fasting in
Shravan month is equal visiting all the sacred places.
