Baladevjew Temple at Kendrapara – Information about Temple Timings of Baladevjew Mandir Kendrapara

Baladevjew Temple at Kendrapara in Orissa is dedicated to Lord Balaram. Temple timings are given below. Baladevjew (elder brother of Sri Krishna) and Sri Jagannath and Goddess Subhadra are worshipped here. The temple is also known as Tulsi Kshetra and Gupt Kshetra.


Legend has it that Lord Balaram annihilated demon Kandarasura and married daughter of the demon, Tulasi, here.

The temple complex houses four shrines. Bada Deula or Sri Mandir; Majhi Mandir or Bhog Mandap; Jagamohan or Natya Mandir and Bada Mandir or Mukhashala.

The temple has a long history. The current temple is believed to have been built by Raghuji Bhonsle, the Maratha king of Nagpur.

Ratha Yatra and Makarabedha are the important rituals held in the temple.

The interior of the temple is decorated with paintings of Krishna Leela scenes, divine figurine, worship scenes etc.
