Mandaikadu Kodai 2024 – Mandaikadu Temple Festival – Mandaikadu Koda Festival Date in 2024

Mandaikadu Kodai or Koda is the most important festival observed at the famous Mandaikadu Bhagavathi Amman Temple in Kanyakumari District in Tamil Nadu. Mandaikadu Kodai 2024 date is March 12. The 10-day festival is observed on the last Tuesday of Maasi month as per traditional Tamil Hindu calendar.

On March 8, 2024 Mahapuja will be held. On March 12, Valiya Chakra Theevatti procession will be held

The festival starts 10 days before the last Tuesday in Maasi Month on March 3, 2024.

Mandaikadu Koda Festival Date

The rituals involve the taking of the deity worshipped around the temple.

Thousands of devotees from Tamil Nadu and Kerala attend this important ceremony.

The main ritual during the 10-day festival is filling the cracks in the Manputtu which develops crack during the heat in Kumbham month. Devotees bring kalabham in procession for the ritual.

Devotees also observe 41 day vratam and arrive at the temple carrying irumudi kettu. 

The original murti swayambhu murti is a 3.5 meter high Manputtu or ant mound. It is believed that Kodungallur Bhagavathi is residing the temple. 

The main offering in the temple is an appam made from rice, payar and jaggery.
