It is widely believed Goddess Muthukuzhi Amman bless childless couple with children. Prayers are also offered in the temple for speedy recovery from illnesses.

Muthukuzhi Amman Story
Legend has it that once a woman lost her only child to small pox even after offering prayers to the Goddess. She buried the child and when she was returning home a woman in the village was possessed by the spirit of Goddess Muthukuzhi Amman. The possessed woman told the mother that Amman will never disappoint her devotees and the child is still alive. People then dug up the pit and found that the child was alive and was cured of small pox.
