Tapt Kund at Badrinath Temple – Hot Water Spring Near Badarinath Temple


Tapt Kund is a hot water spring near the famous BadrinathTemple. Devotees take a dip in this holy water before having darshan at the Badarinath Temple. Tapt Kund is located on the Markandeya Rock on the banks of the Alaknanda River.

Tapt Kund contains medicinal properties. A bath in the holy water is highly refreshing. It also has curative properties.

Tapt Kund emerges beneath the Garuda murti in the temple. The water then gets collected in the rock. Today there are tanks in which water is collected and devotees can take bath in the tanks.

Tapt Kund is a natural hot spring. Naturally heated groundwater from the Earth’s crust emerge from the spot.
