Adi Shankaracharya Temple in Badrinath

Adi Shankaracharya Temple is a small shrine located on the stairs to the Badrinath Temple and is on the way to the Tapt Kund (Holy hot spring). The shrine is dedicated to Adi Shankara, who visited the region at a young age and established Badrinath Dham.

Adi Shankaracharya established four mutts in the four directions of India and Badrinath is one among them. The belief is that the murti worshiped in Badrinath temple was discovered by Adi Shankaracharya at Narad Kund and he consecrated the murti in the present temple.

Daily puja and bhog are offered at the Adi Shankaracharya Temple.

Apart from the Adi Shankaracharya Temple, Murti of Adi Shankaracharya and his four disciples are found along the Parikrama inside the Badrinath Temple
