Putting on ochre garments, holding a skull, plucking out
strands of hair, maintaining heretical observances, ashes, an ascetics clothes
(and) dreadlocks; intoxication, nakedness (and) conferences on the poetry of
the Vedas, Tantras etc in assemblies... All (this) is exerting oneself for the
sake of filling the stomach (and) is not the cause of the highest (good).
The mind indeed is the cause of liberation and bondage of
men. The mind that clings to sense objects (leads) to bondage; the mind free
from sense objects (leads) to liberation.
When (the yogi) is freed from sense objects, knowledge of an
external (world) does not exist. And when knowledge of an external (world) has
disappeared, then the yogi becomes equable with all things.
Just as ghee merged in ghee is devoid of separateness from
ghee, so the yogi, merged in the highest reality, does not experience a state
of separateness.
Amanaska Yoga - Amanaska Yoga is a dialogue between
Shiva and Sage Vamadeva.
