There is a confusion regarding Pitru Paksha Shradh starting date
and time in 2012 as Hindu tithi starts early. Below are the detail beginning
time regarding Pitru Paksha in 2012.
Pitru Paksha Shradh Purnima Tithi Starts from 7:34 AM on
September 29 as per North Indian, Kannada and Telugu calendars. But Shradh is
not performed on the day as the day as per traditional Hindu calendars is
Chaturdasi Tithi.
Purnima Shradh is performed on September 30 morning before
7:56 AM.
Pitru Paksha Shradh Pratipada Tithi starts at 7:57
AM on September 30 as per North Indian calendars.
Pitru Paksha Pratipada Shradh is performed after 7:57 AM on
September 30.
In Marathi and Gujarati Calendars
Purnima Shradh is performed on September 30 morning before
8:08 AM.
Pitru Paksha Pratipada Shradh is performed after 8:08 AM on
September 30.
Please note common people do not observe Purnima Shradh and
they begin Shradh rituals with Pratipada Shradh.

If Purnima shraadh is not performed by common people than who performs this. It is said that Purnima shraadh is for encestors from mother side. Whether this is correct. If yes, then it should be performed by common people as well. I look forward to your considered and expert opinion. Khazan Singh
